Purchased OBSBOT Meet 2 webcam (~$200).

Why this choice:

  • 4K/30fps resolution
  • Full Linux support via community app (obsbot-camera-control)
  • AI features (auto-framing, face tracking, face AE/focus) fully controllable on Linux
  • Works with OBS on Arch Linux (use system package, not Flatpak)

Compared against: Elgato Facecam, Logitech Brio 500, Insta360 Link 2, Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra

Audio setup: Already covered - existing XLR mic + Line 6 Helix interface.

Next: Verify camera works as expected when it arrives, then close task.

Camera arrived and verified working on Linux.

What was done:

  • Confirmed camera detected via USB and works in OBS
  • Installed build dependencies (cmake, qt6-multimedia)
  • Built and installed obsbot-camera-control from source to ~/.local/bin
  • Installed desktop launcher and icon
  • Created docs/setup/webcam.md covering: build deps, install, recommended settings, OBS workflow, virtual camera, troubleshooting
  • Added webcam doc link to README.md
  • Merged to main (commit 492adf6)

Note: The build.sh install step hangs on an interactive prompt in non-TTY. Worked around by copying binaries manually.
